Social activist and insider mediator, Amani Al-Khatib, from the Iqlim Al-Kharroub region, seeks to foster positive and effective communication between individuals and communities through her volunteer work, especially during times of crisis. Al-Khatib has organized training workshops in various towns across the Chouf district, including Wardaniya, Chhim, Mghayriya, Jiyyeh, and Barja, focusing on mediation and positive communication to help alleviate the stress felt by residents and volunteers in shelter centers.

Al-Khatib believes strongly in the role of insider mediation in conflict resolution, which drives her to promote a culture of dialogue, emphasizing that each person has the potential to make a difference. As she says, “Social work is not just a duty; it is a passion that motivates us to bring about positive change.” She highlights the importance of women’s contributions and works to support their active participation in public life, recognizing their ability to positively impact their communities.

Al-Khatib sees municipalities and local communities as “essential supporters of social initiatives, providing necessary resources and helping to coordinate efforts across diverse groups.”

Amid Lebanon’s challenging times, Al-Khatib faces numerous obstacles as she carries out her initiatives and training workshops in various Lebanese regions. Nevertheless, she believes that this work demands patience and resilience, viewing each challenge as an opportunity for learning and growth.
